Greetings Sorors and Amicae of the District of Columbia!
It is my pleasure to welcome you to our District of Columbia State Web site on behalf of the members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated in Washington, DC! We are delighted that you have taken this opportunity to visit us in our virtual home. We invite you to become familiar with our state and its works on this site. Zeta’s District of Columbia State is organized in the Eastern Region, which is led by T. Diane Surgeon, Esq., Eastern Regional Director.
This is a great day as we reflect upon the legacy of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Zeta has provided over 96 Years of service to the nation and to the world.
This is also a great day to be a member of and/or affiliated with the birthplace of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. In 2020, the Sorority will be celebrating 100 years of service.
In 1920, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was founded at Howard University to establish a new organization predicated on the precepts of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood. Our Founders wanted the sorority to reach college women in all parts of the country who were sorority minded and desired to follow the founding principles of the organization. Since then, women with diverse backgrounds have joined our organization to further promote Zeta’s ideals and continue the legacy of our Founders.
Soror Mary Breaux Wright, our International President, has committed the organization to stand united to future generations through sponsoring youth groups; promoting pre-natal care and decreasing the number of premature births through our Stork’s Nest program; awarding more scholarships through the National Educational Foundation, local chapters, and Amicae auxiliaries; and devoting more time to ensure that our seniors are treated with love, fairness and dignity through our Elder Care Initiative. Soror Wright’s theme of “Building on the Principles of Zeta While Blazing New Paths,” empower our members and our communities to continue the valuable service we have provided for the past 96 years.
We thank our partners and supporter for the last 96 years that you have worked with and supported state initiatives. We invite your continued support and partnership as we “REMEMBER OUR HISTORY and HONOR OUR LEGACY” by providing excellence in service to build a stronger more prosperous District of Columbia State.
If you are a member without a Zeta home, contact us so that we may connect you with a local chapter in our state.
